Get the most out of your SXSW Style X Personal Guide Shopping session
I’m honored and excited to be a stylist at the SXSW Style X showcase.
The event will feature over 60 brands with designers on hand. Stylists will lead shoppers through the show, helping them create a unique look that is perfectly suited to their tastes. Find more info on Style X’s website.
As Personal Guide Shopping sessions will be just 90 minutes, some pre-planning will ensure you’ll get the most out of your shopping experience.
1) Know your budget and be prepared to share it with your stylist.
Stylists respect your budget and need to know it in order to properly suggest items. This will help you have a confident and fun shopping trip and prevent buyer’s remorse.
2) Have goals
Need a new pair of amazing jeans or a boot for spring? Take a look at your closet and think about what you’d like to add. If you’d like to update your look, think about what that means. Do you have a favorite actor, model or personality whose style you’d like to emulate?
3) Be open to new things
Shopping with a stylist usually involves trying clothing and accessories that you wouldn’t have normally chosen for your self. Be open to trying them on. Most of my clients end up buying and loving clothing they would never pick up on their own.
3) Know when to say “No, thanks”
Stylists tend to get very excited about all things fabulous. We might think it’s great for you, but you might not. Tell us! We’ll happily find a better option.
4) Wear proper undergarments
Opt for undergarments that won’t show through clothes (no visible pantie line).
5) Dress in clothes that are easy to change in and out of
We’re going to be trying on clothes, shoes and accessories. Choose clothes that are easy to remove and wont wrinkle easily. For women, this could be shorts and a cute top or a dress. For guys jeans and a t-shirt work fine, just choose a shoe that easily slips off.
